Change Of Tyre Size

Would there be a problem if we fit larger tyres to the wifes GX.

At present it has 215/70/16 fitted but we would like to fit 235/60/16 instead.

Is this possible without changing the standard alloys?

Thanks 02SKN

This is a link to a tyre size calculator as a guide only. Other members better versed in all things wheel and tyre will be able to give more definite advice I am sure.

Thanks for the link, it seems possible to change the tyres but what i really need to know is,is the ariginal alloy wide enough to

accept the new wider tyre.

I have searched through the archives and cannot seem to find anything related to increasing the tyre size.

Somebody must have done this to improve roadholding over the years. I just can't find it

Phone the folk at Rochford tyres and give them the original wheel spec. and they should be able to advise you:

This site also has a 'rim width calculator:

If you input your requirements it indicates that it should be possible in terms of fitting the tyre to the rim but, as you say, it would be useful to know if there are any other issues such as clearance when driving and on lock.
