Avensis - Retrofitting Of Cruise Control

Hi All

This is my first posting and am a new member to the club.

I have never posted anything in any forum before, so excuse me if I ramble on a bit.

I read a previous posting about retrofitting cruise control to a diesel Avensis, which was pretty interesting stuff.

I own a 2005 '55' plate Avensis 1.8 petrol T3-s and am keen to find out if it is possible to fit the cruise controls to my car.

Can I buy a control stalk from a breakers yard and fit to my car with no problems, or would it be better to get hold of the full steering wheel, with the cruise control stalk already assembled and fit that instead?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Gary

Just get the one off eBay, mine arrived in a week no probs. Gonna have a go at over the weekend. When you look at eBay the title of the item may have changed but just check the part number is the same 8463234011.

Just check the previous thread for applicability to you're car.

Thanks for the thread, Andy

I read this one a week or so ago, but was unsure if it applied to diesels only.

I seem to remember someone else mention that the 1.8 petrol might not have the 'fly by wire' accelerator pedal connection, to let this work.

I really don't want to fit an aftermarket type, as this could cost a small fortune, but if I can either buy a steering wheel, with the controls attached, or fit a control stalk from another Avensis, I would go with that.

Any advice from anyone else out there will also be gratefully accepted.
