i have a hollow knocking sound from rear but not sure what it is? ive heard a lot about figure of 8's could it be that and where are they on the car??

Figure 8's are on the front. If you have a knocking sound from the rear it'll most likely be something in the boot, a blown shock or a droplink.

mines a little clunky over rough roads, whats this drop link and how expensive/easy are they to fix?

If it sounds like two bits of oak rubbing together its the lower ball joints.

If its a knocking sound then its the drop links.

Shocks are easy to tell as they leak (jack up the car and have a look) and then you get lots of judder as though the road is really bumpy.

All relitivly easy things to change.

On thing i would recommend is that you buy a dremmel if you havent already got one. You'll probably need to cut the old drop links off as they round off as they are stupid and you need an alan key.

Rear anti roll bar bushes are problamatic too .

Does it do it when accelerating and when going over bumps?? If so could be the rear diff mount has gone, they are round about £100 from tcbparts.

it does it over bumps but its not very loud, its a hollow sound really does any one have a bailey dump valve on thier car??

I did have a Bailey on mine and also on my old Starlet
