morning guys,

bought myself a clay bar on the net, want to clean up my celica as it still looks dirty after i have jet washed it and polshed so i want to clay it up and get all the hiden stuff OUT!

Can i only use a clay bar once on the car, because it may cut layers off the paint?

And how should use the clay, wash it,clay, wax then polish?

Many thanks cheers

Still got my clay bar after a couple of years, I wrapped it in cling film after use and it is still quite malleable ;) Only used it a couple of times and still got loads of the detailer spray left

So....You going to bring this 'ere Celica to JAE? ;)

You will find that the majority of the cars are standard and if you bring yours it will be unique anyway as it would be the only Celica ;)

clay bars are great. and im pretty sure they dont cut into the paint. the clay just gets the dirt that other products cant get.

saying that i only use it twice a year. but im sure thats all it needs.

I clay twice a year too. You can keep using the same piece but make sure you knead it until you have a clean side, otherwise you'll damage the paint. The clay just removes the contaminants on the paintwork. Use plenty of lube and you'll be fine. If you drop the clay, throw it away! Don't risk using it!

You wont need to use the whole entire bar. Rip about a inch off and knead until you have a nice round piece not to thin though. For lube you can just use a bucket with some shampoo in it, saves you spending on a dedicated lube product.

As Jai^^ said if you drop that piece then bin it as it will hold tiny stones which will mark your car. No need to press hard while claying as this can cause maring but if your going to polish later this will remove the maring. When you can hardly feel any friction to the area, knead the clay and do another area until whole car is covered.

Dude get down to JAE!

Even though it's standard it doesn't matter. I'm mainly going so I can meet the forums people and also oggle the cars for a few days.

The claybar wont remove paint unless it has grit in it as previously mentioned. ;)

I have heard of claying but never known how its done? Someone once asked if they cud borrow my car for a "claying demo" when i had my bluebird. I asked what it was but they never replied lol!

I usually wet the car with the hose, shapoo it, wash it off with the hose again, dry it, use a microfibre cloth all over, then wax and polish. Is claying combining the wash process or something?

Claybar is just a bit of clay with a detailer spray. You spray on the detailer and then rub the clay onto it until its smooth.

Gives a gorgeous finish. ;)
