Starlet Cabin Or Aircon Filter

Hi to all,

I'm usually on the Aygo forum but my wife's 1998 Starlet (1.5 Diesel) Japanese import has the air conditioner emitting a very distinct smell. I went to the local Toyota dealer to ask for the cabin/aircon filter but was informed that the Starlets do not have them :( . My wife has developed a nasty cough and the doctor suggested that she has some sort of allergy as as soon as she turns on the a/c she has a coughing fit and in Malta, without the a/c you're really in for a super sweaty ride

I bought the Toyota AirCon spray cleaner and blasted this in the vents. It worked for a few days then the smell came back.

Can anyone help in this regard? Do the Starlets lack this filter or is it tucked away somewhere? On my Aygo it's behind the glove box and easily removed if I reach behind the glove box from the passenger footwell but the Starlet's dash continues way back and I cannot see a thing.
