Gt4 Engine Removal

lol, yeh I don't touch electrical's except for when I soldered the tailgate wires, Speakers and made my own Battery terminals but that's as far as I go. I couldn't rewire anything, and I have no idea how to use an OBD port lol.

Thing is, the car will always piss me about with something and same with you, there is always a little something that you want to sort out but that's the fun of it for me.

What I don't like is when I get stuck like this and I have no money to spend, I have no problem spending it, but I do have a problem with no having it at all!

I hope things go well with you, you're almost there!

Hey kp did TPM ask you to write for them? Is it just covering events?

Yeh they did. Still doing it and will be for a while me thinks.

No they also do features so sign up for their feature request if you want one.

Or you can sign it up as a readers project like I did, hopefully I will ultimately get a feature when it is complete. :D

Right i'm still waiting for ben to weld my downpipe but he took some swarf in the eye the other day and had to go to hospital so put him out of action for a bit. If he doesnt do it this week i think i'm going to find somewhere in town to do it.

Now this coming month i'm going to purchase an adjustable BOV. Ideally i want and to be honest its the only bov that i want and that is the greddy type s, i love the sound so much. Unfortunately these are discontinued due to them constantly leaking boost however, there is a company called ngrperformance (known about them for a while) who make the type s with a stronger diaphragm. They are not knock off and i have not found one bad review on them so by all accounts they do their job. Costs £150 which is quite reasonable http://www.ngrperformance.com/ theres a few videos on there of the bov working on the mitsubishi eclipse, the music is a bit much on them i must admit haha. I already have the adapters for the bov to go on my car just need the bov.

Yeh, not a bad price either, i just love the sound, hopefully will be able to hear it over the engine. I'm going to try and get on a welding course so i can do my own stuff.

Just waiting around for the downpipe to be modified, can't really compete getting it done for a few cases of beer rather than a few hundred quid but like i said if he doesn't get round to it this week i will get somewhere in town to do it. Everything else is done on the car, just thought i'd get the BOV since i'm just waiting around for this.

Last couple of bits though, it's just good to see it so close to the finish. Something I am hoping to see fairly soonish.

mmm, would you be able to do it yourself if i lent you my mig welder?

I'd probably burn a hole straight thru the dp haha. Ive got two downpipes i bought another one to canabalize, think i will stick with my original downpipe with the cat in it as it seems to be thicker metal and cost a lot more, i can always make a decat up before i get it mapped. Then i need to adjust the screamer which shud be easy enough and then the wastegate relocation pipe, so plenty of cutting and welding.

Lee just out of interest, with the oil dipstick, how much is it between high and low? As in if you were on high how much oil would you need to lose to make it get near the L?

haha weight reduction like it. nothing like free HP.

IIRC its about 1ltr between min and max on the DS.

KP if you want some mig welding lessons you only need to ask. it really isnt hard.

Made some progress finally, just been making up the new downpipe, just chopped a few bits up today. Ben is doing the welding and cutting, we tried getting his escort started but the starter motor is a bit screwed so bit ****** off about that.
