Both Keyfobs Stopped Working! Diy Solution

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

For the second time, both of my keyfobs spontaneously stopped working the remote central locking. Unlike last time the car is now out of warranty.

Over the phone, Toyota quoted £90 minimum to fix the problem, saying it could be more depending on how long it took to fix and if it was a hardware issue or not.

I couldn't believe the timing, I was driving to France the very next day for a two week holiday!! So now I would have to fit in a few hours at the Toyota garage as well as packing etc.

I did not want to spend the time or the money so I googled hard for a DIY solution.

In the end I found it on the American 'FixYa' website, it was for the American version of the Verso but the year (05) was right so I tried it.

Just disconnect the car Battery for a few minutes!

and it worked!!! both fobs were fully functional as before :D

If this happens to you I recommend you try this before going to the garage

There were no ill effects from disconnecting the car Battery, no radio codes required for example.

Thanks for sharing, hopefully it will help someone else in the future.

That is also how I turned off the EML and got my car out of 'limp-home-mode'.

Both of my key fobs stopped working at the same time. Toyota recommended changing the batteries. This didnt help. I read this post in the forum. This worked for me after briefly disconnecting the car Battery both fobs worked again. Thanks
