tried another DICE unit and it still does not work... however, just read a post from a couple of years ago on the Avenis forum and it mentioned you need to be in CD changer mode on the head unit for it to work. Is this correct? If yes, how do you get to CD changer mode??

All I can say is that version will work perfectly with the Toyota kit in the tutorial. Maybe the DICE does not???

On Most Toyota head units it is usually a repeated press of the "CD" or "Disc" button, but as I've never had the XT4 head unit I can't say with complete confidence.

1st press usually selects internal CD, 2nd external CD (ie changer), 3rd press internal CD and so on...........

I would expect you should get CDCH (CH for changer) up on the display, as with Anchs' ipod install pic:
