Scratched / Scored Lower Lip On Front Bumper

While on holiday in Torquay over last weekend I was driving down a sloping driveway, and as the car moved towards the road which sloped in the opposite direction, the lower lip on the front bumper scraped along the road.

Visually the lower lip on the front bumper doesnt look too bad when you look at it from above, as all the scratches are underneath.

Does anyone have any recommendations to sort out the scratches and "burring" on the underside? I was thinking of lightly rubbing with the least abrasive wet and dry block I can get, to remove the rough edges.

Any advice would be appreciated... and I guess as this was just a conventional road and driveway there must be a few more people out there who this has happened to?

I suggest you to make the edges of scratches even, eg. remove the excess plastic as you said in your message. You can use some sandpaper or a sharp knife. I think knife would be better to not to make the area between scratches uneven. With knife you'll be able to do only what you need and the working process will become more accurate than with sandpaper. It is harder to control sandpaper than knife. Hope you understand.

After removing the excess plastic, just put on the whole front lip some "back to black" -style paste which is sold in every car care shop to make rubber and plastic surfaces look as black as they were when new. I think it should do the trick and everything will be fine. Of course you'll have to put some more of that paste sometimes depending on how the scratches will possibly appear back. I do my plastic surfaces approx. every 3 months.

Best regards, Alex
