Hi all new to this forum.

Over the weekend the heat shield on my yaris has come adrift completely from the rest of the car. I have been running on short journeys without replacing it. As the heat shield is made from very thin ally I wondered if I should go to the expense and aggro of replacing it, be interested to know what other people think?

Ok on short journeys I think.

In summer and long runs, you could have a significant fire risk...

Make another from thin aluminium sheet..

Hi and welcome! ;)

I would leave it off tbh. I've had mine removed from my Accord and a few yrs ago on my Golf GTi, no probs.

If you can bolt it back on then do so, up to you though. ;)

Toyota designed and fitted this for one purpose ..................To prevent the hot exhaust from scorching the bodywork.

Get it refitted as soon as possible!

These things have been falling off cars for years. My opinion used to be 'well the manufacturer wouldn't put it there for nothing' but I'd just leave it off. I've known a couple fall off old nissan micras which were then run for years with no problem.
