Experience Of Kumho Tyres

Hi

I will soon need to replace a couple of tyres on my "03 Camry CDX size 215/60/16

I am thinking of fitting KUMHO K11 as price seems OK and reviews seem OK.

Any one got experience of KUMHO tyres or care to make any other recommendation for me.

My needs are mainly for good mileage and quiet running. I drive gently and within national speed limits here and in France.

So, your best advice please.

Tim

and a PS. Anyone know where I can get some reasonably priced alloys too?

Kumhos are great tyres, I swear by them, I have had far more expensive, Pilot Ps2s, Eagle Assymetrics, and proxes and found the Kumho (admitedly KU-31) the best all rounder, and at half the price of the PS2s.

I have "converted" a few people to them who were wary of the brand, and most are very happy with them.

I ran them on my supra, on my M3, the other half on her MR2 and my dad recently on his S class, all very happy!

The proxies are weak in the wet ;)

Kumhos are currently fitted as original equipment on the Hyundai I series cars.

Reasonable tyres for the price, I would take the Ecstas over Toyo Proxes because the sidewall is stiffer on the Kumho, but the ultimate grip is about the same. However, if you want better ride comfort, the Toyos might be a better bet.

Neither is what I would call a sport or performance tyre as they are too deeply treaded and squeal easily, but on the other hand the wet weather performance of both is reasonable.

Paul.

Dont rate Toyo's myself...

If money is no object i would probably go with Goodyear Eagle F1's, i used to swear blindly by them. But Falken FK451's are awesome tyres and a lot less than F1's with 90% of the grip/handling.

I've just moved from Michelin Pilot Sports to Kumho Ecsta KU31's on the rear of the supra following a recommendation from Karma Supra. And they are awesome!

The strong tyre walls really make handling that much better, the compound is nice and sticky and beyond all else they cost the same as a budget tyre.

Im just waiting for the front tyres to wear out now so that i can put matching Kumho's on the front.
