The Cost Of Reversing Sensors

Hey all... I asked Toyota for a quote on fitting reversing sensors for my new Auris which I havent revieved yet as it has been delayed until the 16th, and they said they would do me a deal for the inconvenience.

They have quoted £380 for the sensors and fitting.

I thought that sounded quite steep, as im sure my dads Hilux had them bought and fitted for about £200 through the dealership.

Can anyone else tell me what they paid, or if anyone knows what the trade price, and retail price of the sensors themselves are excluding fitting, this info would be useful to me.

Cheers all

Phill

In Finland rear parking sensors cost 435€ excl. fitting. If I'm not totally wrong the price was a lot cheaper before the facelifted model arrived!

Total parts cost (retail) is £220 PLUS 2 hours fitting charge, so they are charging you retail price and not a "deal" price

Kingo

Would this count as a modification and increase your insurance?

I just contacted admiral, and they want £10 a year extra to insure parking sensors. Stupid really, I thought it would bring a slight reduction as your less likely to have a parking incident! They say you dont have to cover them but if they were damaged in a rear end smash they would not be covered, as they will only bring the vehicle back to manufacturers spec...

Just guessing... But I think they'll cover only the parts installed at the factory. All the "extras", even they're installed

by the dealer doesn't count.

according to my dealer Toyota accessories/parts fitted by a Toyota dealer are covered by Toyota warranty.

For sure that's true, but what we're talking about here is insurance :)
