Very close to buying some new alloys for my Gen7 140 (I assume the current ones are 15"?).

Does anyone have a Tyre profile guideline? What profile do I need to keep the speedo in sync?

(sure i've read a similar post before, just can't find it).

thanks.

Gen7 140 got a 16" 205/50// if you go for 17" it will be down to 45 and so on.. every alloy wheel dealers knows what is right for your car... so just buy at the right shop...

If you're going for 17's, there are three options, 205/45 (OE), 215/45 or 215/40.

The best combo for 18's is 225/35 front, 225/40 rear.

ok thanks.. those make sense!

Do you know what fittings the celica has? I've seen 5*100s, 5*110s etc, are these the bolt depths or something?

Also... on my celica all the wheels are the same profile.. should the back one have a larger profile then?

Cheers!

5x100

The problem i find is that when you put larger alloys on and thinner tyres it just sometimes doesnt look right.

I tend to choose wheel and tyre sizes that look right for the car and then measure the speedo inaccuracy using GPS.

Then get a speedo adjuster to correct it.

I've gone up from 225's at the rear of my car (used to over read by 10mph) to 275's and the speedo STILL over reads by 5mph at motorway speeds.

The car will only look weird if it is not lowerd. when its lowerd the tyre looks better. because there aint much of an arch gap.

You mean the PCD.. that is 5/100.. means the distance of 1 bolt to another is 100mm apart..

I'd rather not lower a car as i dont like to upset the ride comfort. Speed bumps are a problem on supra's on the stock suspension height, half the time it makes the handling worse as your geometry is totally changed so that will need re-setting up. Unlike a change in tyre size which usually doesnt make a noticeable difference to geometry. Its not too bad on cars that have adjustable Camber, Castor and Toe....but if i remember correctly i dont think celicas do...
