'lights-on' Alarm

My daughter's 1998 Avensis 1800GS Estate's 'lights-on' alarm has stopped working. Any advice please? I have no wiring diagram. She says that the door switch still operates the interior light and door light. Where is the sounder? Is there a relay in the circuit?

hello ! My Avensis is a left hand drive (living in Greece) so .. The buzzer should be located next to the handle that opens the bonnet. There is a rectangular plastic cover (that the hande is on ) secured by four screws. this will also give you access to the fuse and relay area.

Thanks to Strouf for the advice. I had a quick look, but I have not sorted it yet. You mention that fuses and relays are in this area (adjacent to the bonnet handle) but on this car the fuses and relays are under a cover under the bonnet on the left.

Another silly question - how does the power and signals get to & from the door controls? I can't see any cabling from the doors to the body. I am obviously missing something!

The warning buzzer is operated by the drivers door interior light switch. The cables go through a black rubber bendy conduit (ribbed pipe) between the doors I remember correctly.

Regarding the unit and fuses etc, if you look to the right of you steering wheel there is the air vent and mirror controls etc. Below this, there is a little compartment that pulls down - like a little coin tray sort of thing. This pulls out if you give it a tug whilst it is open, and there are your fuses!

:help: Thanks sjr, I found the fuses OK - and the cable to the door. How I did not see it the first time, I put down to my advanced age! I did not have time to work my way through the fuses and it was not obvious from the diagram which one might be involved - probably one of the low current ones?

However, I suspect it is not a fuse, since the door switch operates the interior light OK - via some sort of electronic control unit I would guess, as it dims slowly. Presumably the buzzer is operated from the same ECU and fuse? So my next questions are - where are the ECU & buzzer located?

Does the Club offer any on-line access to such technical information - wiring diagrams and the like?

Thanks
