Audio/sat Nav Unit Failure

The combined Audio/Sat Nav system in our 2002 previa CDX is not repairable due to lack of spare parts availablitiy according to the audio specialist we have taken it too. He commented that this was not an uncommon fault, Lexus's, or is it Lexi, suffer from this issue also apparently!

Is this a common fault? If not where could I get this system repaired?

If it is a known issues what alternatives are there?

Specialist recommended replacing with a conventional system, radio/CD, £130 ish deopending upon spec and adding a seperate sat nav. I suppose "you pays your money and takes your choice".

I would prefer to keep the car original but replacing one faulty unit with potentially another seems a fool hardy exercise?

Any ideas?

I have a 2002 CDX Previa, and the CD player is not MP3. I have been looking into changing the entire unit to a double din touch screen unit - can be used for SatNav, MP3, Video e.t.c. I have not managed to source sucha unit as yet, maybe you can look around too. If I find one I like, I will let you know.
