Bleading Brakes On A Knz130 Surf

Hi All

Now i am going to bleed the brakes on my surf i've just changed the rear wheel cylinders & shoes now i know how to bleed brakes but some car's like to be done certian way's so do i have to have the surf's engine running or turned off ? should i pump the brake pedal before i start to empty the brake servo ?
