How Much Petrol Left.

Does anyone know how much petrol floats still in the tank once the last fuel indicator bar starts to blink? I know it goes faster and faster in blinking until it'll give me error code, but maybe if anyone tested how much can I still go until next refill, that'd be very useful information? My on board indicator shows me 4miles still to go on petrol that is left, which I bet is not right as it just started to blink.

I would say there's about 6 litres still left in when it begins to flash, the fuel tank holds 42 litres and if you was to fill up soon after the bar flashes you will find that you can't get more than 36 litres in. The miles left indicator doesn't seem to take into account what's left in reserve.

Yaris is good on petrol, thats for sure, but one thing i don't get with my yaris is that when the last bar for petrol flashes on the screen, after driving for a bit it will go back up to 2 bars.... is that normal? and does that happen with everyone else??

Even my diesel does this; It's affected by any kind of slope, although turning the car off and on resets it.

The Yaris fuel gauge gets less accurate the lower it goes!

It did not happen to me with Yaris, but I can remember my manual gauge in my old escort. It was enough to brake harder, take faster a corner or going downhill for the gauge to jump up :) It's normal with liquids and freely floating measurement instruments I guess.

Yep mine does that occasionally, nothing to worry about...one of the "joys" of it being digital!

When mine starts flashing I tell myself I have 30-40 miles left - I've done 30 after it started flashing once as I was so nervy that it would run out I had to get some, it wasn't making any signs of imminently running about but I won't push it ;)

I bank that have 70 miles in the tank on my 1.3 '08 SR Petrol when the blinking starts. I usually get about 47MPG in normal day to day running back and forth to work, which means that there is about 1.5 Gallons left in the reserve.

The blinking normally starts at about 350, and i regularly get to 410ish before i fill up and i there is normally at least a litre left in the tank. The Miles left display shows zero when the blinking begins, Silly really.

Mine has about 5 litres left when the blinking starts. Quick blinking means i have something like 2 litres left. Not been there too often though....
