Things That Bug Me About My Aygo

£8000 for a new car's nothing! lol I might be out of touch, but mine's got a shed load of 'mod cons'; ABS, leccy windows, power steering, air-con, about a hundred air-bags and oh, I don't know, other stuff as well. There's plenty of little niggles (see above) but I don't think anyone's mentioned anything big.

It's the best go-kart I've ever owned! :D

Yes we do! I'm always seeing cars on the hard shoulder with a puncture. I've had enough punctures in my time to make it important to me to be able to remain mobile after getting one. The squeezy stuff you get to squirt into a punctured tyre is nowhere good enough for me. Twice in the past I've suffered a gash in a tyre that no amount of squeezy stuff would cure.

You could argue that two incidents in five years is not a lot but it is significant if you are stranded in a remote spot with no means of getting help, especially if you are female (I'm pretty sure that my wife is). Not all of Scotland has mobile phone coverage.

I find it quite surprising that the Aygo, despite being a budget motor, comes with a full size [all be it steel] spare. But they then scrimp on other things that would make life just that little easier (like a delay in the dimming of the interior lights or operating the light when either front door is opened/car unlocked). I'm not complaining, I think it is a genuine bonus when VAG and BMW no longer provide spare wheels anymore as standard.

Love the [face lift] Aygo though. Cracking little motor :)

Been using my wife's Aygo for a few days to put some miles on, she only did 5,500 last year and I put 15,000 on mine. I found it a brilliant little car, ideal for the daily commute.

The only issue was that I couldn't see where the rear screen demist button was in the dark! Found it eventually though, after turning on the A/C first.

the things that bug me about my aygo

1. has anyone else noticed it only has 1 reverse light

2. i always seem to manage to honk the horn when am tryin to park or reverse

3. why use black tape to fix the seat belt sensor to the buckle [i actually thought this was a fault with the car and was nearly ready 2 drive it back to my dealer]

4. a glove box lid wd be lovley

5. the fact that the rear wiper is so small i mean how much of that window actually gets wiped

apart from that i do love my wee betsie she is my very first car after passing my test recently

1 reverse light..........that means its only got 1 fog light too..... just like the,yaris,avensis and plenty other cars(you don't even need reverse lights)

you can get a glove box lid from toyota for approx £25

Repeating some of the problems already mentioned:

1. Why didn't they put the switch for the passenger window in the middle instead?
   
2. The seats could be a little more comfortable
   
3. If the boot was one inch bigger, I'd have a much bigger choice of prams to put in the boot
   
4. The boot has a high lip to get things in and out of and the parcel shelf doesn't stay upwards and tends to fall down onto my hands leading on to the next point:
   
5. The parcel shelf edges are sharp and I've cut myself on mine loads of times.
   
6. I personally hate the glass boot lid with a passion because it gives me no scope to attach antenna mounts to the car (admittedly a specialist annoyance)
   
7. The seats not having any memory when they are moved.
   
8. I wish the Battery was a bit more powerful - I use radio equipment in my car and when I transmit with it, the headlights can dip by themselves!

now that someone has mentioned the boot am i the only one who thinks the boot seems to snap ur hand off everytime u shut it the seats in my aygo either wizz me rite forword very fast or wizz backwords at amamzin speed

I prefer not to let go of the boot lid - in case something breaks. :(

I hold it whilst lowering it to the catch - then I press it closed with the palm of my hand.

OK it may be the weather but I don't notice it with other cars.

Why,oh why are my rear lights full of condensation.Is this a modern car or a 1970s Morris Marina ??

Is it any wonder these cars are queuing up at the dealers waiting to be repaired.What next ? Semtex air bags !! Get a grip Toyota.

Hmm, I think most cars suffer from condensation from time to time in the back lights, front lights too. I reckon it's just the weather. In terms of little niggles for me, there aren't many, apart from:

- Intermittent rear wiper please... and it needs to be longer too!

- Light on the heater dial for the dark

- Passenger window switch on the driver's side

- Rear parcel shelf that lifts up higher... you always have to lift it up further to get stuff out of the boot (this is only a little niggle, though!)

Otherwise, I'm loving my Aygo, it's a hoot to drive. Anyone who wants a rear boot light, try one of those push-on LED lights you can get from ASDA... there's a topic on them somewhere in the Aygo forum here : )

My Main Concenrs and how i get round them Learn to live with the Funky Aygo I Say

No Boot Light (solved via Torch)

Rain Getting into boot when wet (Buying Hard wearing Water Proof Floor mat)

Not Enough Room to get shopping in (Parcel Shelf on Back Seat)

Drivers Seat having no memory (Using Passenger side only for rear Access)

Road, Wind Noise (Turn the Radio Up)

No Light for Passenger Door Opening (Just flick the switch or Open My Door)

Heating Controls and positions (I Have Memorized all the settings and positions so i can adjust without taking eyes off road)

No Glove Box Lid (All Important things go in the boots and door pockets and all other cubby holes i can find :P)

No Alarm (Buy Window stickers which states this car has a Toyota Fitted Alarm :P)

I Haven't really had a problem with my Rear Windscreen wiper I just make sure i clean my Windows inside and out once a week

I have not had any problems with My Radio, Seats but i guess everyone has there expectations and needs :D

Apart From these Niggles i've had to learn to live with I love my Aygo

3. I can't see the problem with this. They could have gone for a ridiculously over-engineered solution and fitted a clunky piece of plastic around the seat-belt anchor which would have cost money to design and make and install and which would have no additional functional benefits compared with a length of black insulator tape.

4. Glove box lids are freely available and easy to fit.

5. Any car parts shop will happily sell you a larger wiper blade. I fitted a 14" rear wiper blade to my Rabbit Fish and it works fine.

I DID fit a larger blade on the rear, went from 30cm to 40cm (12" to 16"), but it doesn't really help:

the top curve of the rear window is so extreme that the blade comes off of the glass when it reaches the top.

I then tried fitting a flatblade (with some engineering), as they tend to curve by

themselves dus to the two leafsprings in them, but that doesn't really help either...

Quite annoying, as the horizon behind me is in the top 2" of the window, just the part that doesn't get wiped :(
