Optimal Drive

Hello everybody :)

Sorry for my poor english but i am french and i try to improve your language.

I have a Aygo from 2007 september

I know that actually the Aygo have the Optimal Drive.

What is it? Is it only special oil?

Is it a specific programmation?

And so on....

In fact i desire to put my Aygo (old model) into a model with Optimal Drive

Optimal drive is different Engine Programming, extra sensors and switches at the clutch,

other pulleys for the belts, different engine mounts and a couple of other things.

Don't think you can put that all into an old Aygo for cheap...

Toyota Optimal Drive is toyotas marketing tool which is being used accross the entire range of vehicles. New engines and transmissions that increase the fuel economy and reduce the levels of emmited carbon into the atmosphere. So in a nutshell all optimal drive is , is changes to give you more mpg and reduce the vehicles carbon footprint

I don't believe that Toyota modified engine (more or differant sensor, transmission, etc...)

I believe that Toyota put new oil viscosity (i don't know exactly) and perhaps ECU program.

If somebody know what are exactly the differences between standard and optimal drive on Aygo? (becaus on other model, i think the differences are more complecated like big modification engine, new engine, etc...)

Well, I know for a fact that they DID change some things on the facelift.

Might not count as optimal drive, but there ARE differences in the engine...

The crankshaft pulley has rubber dampeners in it to reduce vibration and noise

and I read somewhere that theres a clutch switch now that cuts off fuel when

the clutch is depressed above certain speeds or something like that.

To get that to work, different ECU-programming is a nessesity...

Optimal Drive is Toyota's way of bring eco related changes, big or small or complicated, under a single brand name, which in turn makes the salesperson's job a little easier. To a large degree, Optimal Drive is toyota's way of playing catch up to VW's BlueMotion range of branding, but VWs changes were more dramatic because they started out less efficient than the toyotas.

Optimal Drive is not a special ecu or something that you can just plug and play into your engine.
