It is something that can happen with any accessory floor mat, always ensure that if you remove your mats for cleaning, then you replace the clip that holds the drivers mat in place, otherwise after a while the mat "creeps" under the pedal. It is amazing how many times people leave that clip off, as they can be a bit of a struggle to pop back in place

Interesting note that to stop the engine of a Prius, press the power button for 3 seconds.

It'll stop more than the engine, it will switch off the power to all the ECUs, and this wouldn't be an orderly or graceful shutdown of the systems. I'd try shifting to neutral by holding the gear shift lever for a couple of seconds - that's assuming I hadn't already reached the rabbit staring into the headlights state.
