they will have to have manouvered your steering knuckle when removing the driveshafts from your gearbox - it's possible that the abs sensor(s) got damaged (e.g stretched).

not sure, but wouldn't think they would be that cheap - new at least.

I would probably try a scrap yard for one. Generally an abs sensor doesn't fail of its own accord as it is a passive sensor (basically a magnet). They usually stop working becuase of physical damage.

You could try finding the toyota part number form this link Toyota EPC

You can then use this part number to cross reference with aftermarket part numbers.

I would test the sensors before replacing them. This link explains how to test them:

they retail at about 80 quid , good luck getting 1 from a scrapper as they seize in with rust and usually require drilling out , thus destroying them . it may just need the end cleaning . chances are its knackered though .

yeah, funnily enough i took mine out last weekend whilst cleaning up and copperslip-in the undercar bolt threads before winter sets in and the end of both front sensors was covered in metal filings. I guess these were from the brake pads and no doubt interfering with the sensor's readings to an extent.

I went back to the garage that did the clutch and queried the issue with them, they claimed that everything was ok when they did it as they did a careful job, the guy said 'might want cleaning or the abs system hasnt reset itself properly, give it a couple of days and then come back to me' I then spoke to a mechanic mate of mine who then give me a demo on cleaning the abs cogs etc so will do that this at the weekend when ill have access to jacking equipment and clean them up (hoping this cures it) wish me luck eh :)
