Hi to all of you

I seriously need help. i need to find a supplier of a egr valve, turbo and possibly two scv valves. my wifes rav has got the usual problems. lack of power and the managment light is now on. i am a mechanical engineer so doing any mechanics is not a problem. I heard that kingo can supply parts so if any one knows him or can get hold of him please ask him to get in touch because i tried to send him a message but there is some kind of problem. any technical advice on this would be greatful i.e ohms on testing any electrical connections and so on.

regards

I have taken the scv valves out, easy job and tested them. they both read the same 1.9 ohms. now that is higher than what is stated in the post you supplied. the post said between 1.5 and 1.7 is there a plus or minus of tolerance. also i took apart the egr valve and cleaned it up, all looked okay, nice and free. I heard that the fins on the back of the turbo can also become stuck from time to time as well. the management light has gone out, is this good or bad?

Any expert advice on the scv valves would be helpful

cheers

Hi and welcome to the club.

I can't be sure what affect the difference in resistance will make to the performance of the SCVs but we have had owners try measuring and cleaning them before without success. I think they stick physically rather than electrically so it tends to misguide you.

If the light is out and it behaves then leave it until it troubles you again. Other than that I personally can't offer any guarantees but it often cures such symptoms.

Surely it would play up in first gear if the turbo or egr valve is faulty. the egr valve is very free, i cleaned it with carb cleaner. the engine can be reved right through the rev range whilst not in gear and also in first gear. it does not happen all the time just from time to time but is is very annoying .

Thank you anchorman for your advice.

I have ordered new ones so lets see. i am disappointed with toyota, i have had them before with no trouble but the d4d range seems to have common problems. my girlfriend loves it to bits but now even she is thinking she had bough a honda.

oh well

We do get to hear of some problems with D4Ds but the owners often only look in because of them. I don't know that a Honda would serve any better (although at the risk of being put in the stocks and pelted with rotten veggies, I really like my mates '57 model).

Keep your chin up and lets just hope it cures it.

Hi Bullvine

Welcome to the club

Out of interest ,what is the mileage on the RAV .Is it usual for these items to fail on a 4 year old car .It could be an idea to contact Toyota if you have had the car serviced by their garages.

I once had an idle control valve go on a Vectra at 70000 miles , I contacted Vauxhall main office with my claim of a design fault with the intake pipe to it .They paid for it on the basis that I had a full Vauxhall service record on the car.Could be worth a try ,assuming that you do not have an extended warranty on the car.

Regards

Hi mate. Personally i would be looking at trying to find what is bringing the engine warning light on i.e fault code. Then you have a start point to go from and may save you a few quid in the long run.
