Cashback Cards?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a debit card that exists, that through its use you get cash back?

I know credit cards do it, but i dont really want a credit card!

O2 have just brought out a cash manager card, but that offers no cash back or discounts...

If you have a credit card, that you use for cashback, is there any recommendations?

Thanks

Matt :D

By cashback do you mean asking for cashback at the till, or getting cash as a reward for use?

I have a Laser/Maestro card. I'm sure they are in the UK too.

I can use it in nearly every shop & business. It debits your Bank account directly & most places ask do I want "Cash Back"

In other words, if my bill is Euro50 & I want Euro50 cash back as well, They hand me 50 & my account is debited with 100

It is very handy & saves going to Drink links :D & having to calculate how much I'll need before going shopping.

Quite painless, until you get the Bank Statement :crybaby:

Because my card is in Euro, I can use it anywhere in the EU, except N. Ireland & UK

Credit cards do it because they make loads of money from interest, whereas debit cards don't..... so it's really unlikely you'll find a card like that.

A few cards linked to current accounts offer other perks though... like free breakdown cover or free home contents insurance.... what about something like that instead? And I know there were a couple that did switch offers.... ie switch to x bank and get £100.... think it was Alliance & Leicester.

I've just received my O2 Load and Go card..... aka my pocket money card!

The usual problem with taking cash on a credit card (as opposed to a debit card) is that the application of the exhorbitant rate of credit card interest applies at once, not after the normal repayment date. So, even if you pay off the whole of the debt at the end of the month, you still pay interest on the cash borrowed. The same rule applies to the credit card cheques that some firms send to their customers. These interest payments are calculated daily so it is a very expensive way of borrowing money.

My Laser/Maestro is a Debit card, therefore - no interest charged. I can't borrow on it , Thank God, & if I haven't the loot in my account, I don't get it :D

had the o2 card for a month now and it is pretty good if you want to control your spending! you get texts instantly when you use your card saying how much you spent, where you spent it and how much you got left in the card!

hi all,

Yeah i suppose with a debit card it will be hard find such a payback scheme...unless like said, you gain "other" things...

I have also been thinking of getting one of those O2 cash manager cards....and use it as "petty" cash, whats in it, can be spent, and no more...could be a good control mechanism.

Yeah basically, but you top the card up with whatever you want.

ie I've put £100 on mine, so all the rest of my money is either in my current account to pay bills or in savings. That £100 is for petrol & food for me for the rest of the month and if I need more, I'll top it up again. You use it exactly like a debit card, you get a PIN for it, can withdraw cash or pay for stuff by card - and you get texts telling you how much you have left!

Basically, it stops me spending what's in my current account! I'm using it to help me save money for my holiday :)

I always use credit card. I don't have any idea about it. It is really very informative one . Please do let me know if you get any data related to it. I will be very much thankful to you.
