Firstly, thanks for help from Garvensis, Heidfirst and kennny1000!

Searched TOYOTA website, found whole lots of Avensis Tourers with different engine size and... types! Confused again! Try to find answer from web but even further confused...

T2, T4 and TR... what is the difference and where can find some detailed information?

Checked my Avensis 02, it seems to have an engine called 3ZZ-FE or 1ZZ-FE?

Another question about T2, T4 and TR engine. Do they have the same issue of engine oil issue as the old Avensis? My 02 1.8 VVTi is great except it drinks engine oil faster that I drink beer.....

Thanks a lot

T3, T4, TR etc are all the trim levels. Obviously the higher the no., the better spec, usually. TR model was a special edition i think, which has Full screen sat nav and nice wheels among other things.

1zz and 3zz are engine codes. 1zz is the same as your 1.8vvti and 3zz is a 2.0litre. Best bet is to go on toyota's website to see the differences with each model.

Good luck!

1zz and 1az are the engine codes. 1zz as you say is the 1.8 vvt-i engine and 1az is the 2.0 vvt-i D4 petrol engine. Diesel engine is 1cd-ftv D-4D which was replaced with the 2AD-FTV D-4D. 3zz is a 1.6 engine and 4zz is the 1.4 engine, both petrol . 3zz was only used on the early MK1 avensis

TR model was a special edition i think,

not really - when they facelifted the T25 at some point they restructured the range & had T2, TR, T-Spirit & T180 as the only trim levels. The TR was introduced in Summer 2007 & ran until the end of T25 production ~18 months later.
