Celica Gen 6 Rear Hub & Bearing

Hi all again,

I am trying to find out if I can change my rear hub and bearing assembly without the use of a garage.

My 1998 GT 2.0 with ABS rear bearings are on the way out.

I managed to get a pair of new ones for £180. (Unipart).

The parts are for my car (so im told) but i wanted to know if the ABS is magnetic or cog driven.

If its magnetic then I think im ok to go.

If its cog driven I might need heat (which is a garage).

Before I try to change them I wanted to know if anyone has done this before.

Please...Please..Please... Any input would be appreciated. (constructive).

The information above has been supplied over the phone and I need to make sure.

Thanks in advance,

Big E

Hi Booster...

I took the plunge today and changed them both. Quite an easy job really.

Wheel off, Caliper off, Disc Off, 4 Bolts out and change... then reverse putting it back together.

Could not afford new ones so I got a pair from TCB for £100 (3 months guarentee).

Everything seem hunky dory now.

The two I got from Unipart where wrong so thats why I had to buy 2nd hand one... Cant afford newbies at the mo.

The big thing for me in all this is the ABS factor. Cars without ABS have cheap parts(Imports).

My UK car has ABS so thats why they are more expensive. They also look diferent. (ABS has a cog on the rear NON ABS dont have a cog).

Big thanks for getting back in touch.

Cheers

Big E
