Yeah, vacuum sensor/map sensor are the same thing.

Did you change the tubing also, and check the fittings are not blocked with gunk?

Where did you get the replacement sensor from?

You need to test it using a multimeter to rule out that it isn't faulty.

Also, you need to reset your ECU after doing this to clear the fault code and take the engine out of 'limp' mode

Thought it was. the new one came of a rav4 so is alot newer than mine was but still the same prob, yes i have disconnected the ecu between doing things to rest it but still the same code, i have not checked with meter as i'm unable to fine how to & what the readings are, any help there m8.

Thx for your help.

Right i have checked with meter & have like 5+ volts on both of the terminals, so no circuit probs.

I have disconnetcted the terminals on the ecu & the Battery & removed the efi fuse, to reset the ecu & even without starting the engine i still get code 31.

I begining to wounder if it may have something to do with a temp sensor that tells the ecu how much fuel to push though, as there is no higher revs on cold start & hunting when hot.

The water temp sensor was new last year but what is the one next to it on the right of it?.
