Saying Thank You

I would like to say thank you to all of you that has helped me in finding the problem with the d4d rav4 4.2. I managed to get the parts tonight and fit them within 40 minutes. i replaced both the EGR and SCV valves and it seems to be bang on so far so fingers crossed. I am disappointed with toyota in norwich.the parts department said that the new parts have been changed because of the problem with the old ones. i looked at both the egr and scv valves and i could not see any difference so i tested them and measured them. the only thing that was different was the resistance in ohms on the scv valves which is 2.0 ohms thats 1 ohm more than the old ones. i hope this will help if any one tests theirs. I dont know if they just say the parts have been changed because of the problems . any way lets hope i get a few more miles out of it before any thing else goes wrong. I will see if i can find a hand held diagnostics tool to keep an eye on any error codes come up. if any one knows of one that will be okay to use on toyota,s please let me know.

Regards

Think they have changed the internal sizes of the valves to illiminate any sticking so you probably couldnt tell the difference by loking/testing them.

Glad you got it sorted!

Hi Bully

Glad you are sorted but just to help my deteriorating memory, please add the year to your profile.

A RAV with oblong foglights cannot be read with a code reader but can be by using flash codes. See part 2 here;

DTC_read_0004.pdf

One with round spotlights can with a reader like this;
