Dieseil Engine 'pinking'

Just thought I'd put a quick note on the noise I had from my 06 2.2 desiel engine.

I noticed a 'pinking' noise when the engine was running along the motorway with the gas pedal in a 'neutral' position, to maintain a speed. If I took my foot off, or pressed a little harder the noise went away. Took it into the dealers at it's 60k service and said about it. The immediatly thought of the injectors. They said to be sure they would need it overnight as to check the gaps correctly the engine must be stone cold. Went back to pick it up and they had replaced 2 injectors under warrenty and the noise has gone. If anyone else has a similar noise worth taking it down to the dealer if it's still under warrent as by all accounts these are very expensive!!!

No further problems and it's due its 120k service now!! and it's only 3 1/2 years old. Guess what I do for a living!

I had this pinking but it seemed to come and go but mainly under hard acceleration !!

It seemed to occur when using supermarket fuel but that may just be me thinking that !! but it did seem to coincide with filling up at our local supermarket !! I started using my local filling station and the problem disappeared
