No Juice In The Battery And Tvss

Hay again,

Had a bit of trouble with the Yaris today, been driving it regularly commuting from home to uni, only a 10 mile drive return journey and I left it in a car park for roughly 12 hours today. Returned to go home only to find the keyless entry didn't work, unlocked manually and tried to start it up, completely dead. Not a beat. Managed to get home and get my spare set of keys, same effect, complete waste of time.

Fumbled around for a while looking for the bonnet release and in the passenger foot well I found a little black box that had a cable attached, TVSS. Vehicle Security System. I had not noticed this on the floor before, however I did have a passenger sitting right up against the dash in the morning because he couldnt be buggered to slide it back, so he could have caught his bag strap and pulled it off...

Anyway, obviously the Battery is the first place anyone would look, we jumped it and it started with little struggle and that was that.

Problem is, I didn't leave anything on like lights, I locked the doors etc. So why did my Battery suddenly die? May be I haven't had any proper long drives in a week or so, or could it be to do with the TVSS being moved?

Sorry for the essay guys, just wanted to get all the details in!

How old is the car? The Battery will die eventually.... It gradually loses its ability to keep charge and eventually its not enought to restart. If you go to a car accessory shop they will run a Battery test to see if the Battery is OK or if it has failed...

55 plate, not that old at all. Only covered about 27,000 miles.

I've driven it today and it's run absolutely fine, Battery didn't seem like it was on the edge or anything.

Could it be that the boot or a door wasn't completely closed?

That would leave either the courtesy or boot light on and that would drain the Battery....

55 plate Battery should be OK - but it is approx four years old, so there's a chance it is losing power....

I'm not sure it's possible to lock the door without the doors being open is it? I double checked it locked by pressing lock 3 times and the indicator lights stay on for a few secs.

I've accidently tried to lock the door before all the doors were closed and it just did nothing.
