Clutch / Steering Issues

OK - i'm really going to lose the plot with Toyota soon. I've had nothing but problems with my Auris since I got it. It's a 58 plate and must have been back to Toyota over 15 times now.

With the clutch, I initially got a creeking noise. They changed the master cylinder and the creek disappeared. Then I developed a fairly loud 'clicking' noise which appears when the clutch is depressed about a third of the way down. its been in 4 times for this problem, with master cylinders and pedal units replaced but it's still doing it now, and they've tried fobbing me off telling me it's the click that you get for ignition switch and it's not because I have that as well as this!

It's just been in today for the clutch looked at, and they said they 'lubricated and cleaned' it but as soon as i drove it away, i found the dreaded click is still there.

The steering - I get a 'clicking' noise whenever I turn the wheel full lock to the left but only from when the car is stationary, like when reversing out of a space or something - not when i'm turning left slightly whilst driving. It's been in 3 or 4 times for this, and they replaced the steering column. the click went away for a bit but now it's back again.

any ideas? this is really driving me nuts.

Thanks,

Dave

Well today was the first time I have taken it to a different garage for the clutch looked at... (they said they couldn't look at the steering - i would have to take that back to the garage that initially replaced the steering column??)

I had a noise clutch went there 2 times second one they said they lubricate it and since then I didn't notice it again. It was a sound like a mouse being squezeed not sure if its your case too.

The click on the steering I had too and I still have it but I went there for it 4 times or so and they replaced steering column, tagged in better the wires and several other things one of the time I even saw the lead mechanic struggling under the dash so its not like they're not doing anything to it. I think this is all to do with bad assembling of the car.

In my case it comes mostly when turning left and in motion unlike you which happens when stopped. It looks like a spring being pushed. My idea is that the problem is in the assisted steering system maybe a new pump or engine is required. I might look at it again next maintenance. To be honest doesn't bother me much nowadays with the radio on you don't even ear it.

I have clicking noise from the clutch. I told about it last time I visited T. They lubricated it and was gone, but has returned recently. I think it is a spring and I noticed it in other cars too.

I didn't notice and clicking in my steering wheel. I try to avoid putting steering into full lock while stationary. Previous car I was driving had hydraulic PAS and doing that could simply overheat and damage the pump. Toyota has electric PAS so I am not sure but you could really worry if you could hear clicking while driving on full lock as that usually means worn CV joints.

I wouldn't really worry if I were you as they have checked your car and replaced parts and you still have warranty running.
