New Aygos Expected Delivery Is January 2010...is This True?

Hi, I'm looking to buy a new Aygo Blue and gave the dealers a call to get some info. Well he said expected delivery of ANY new aygo would be january!! I just passed my driving test this week and was soo looking forward to getting an aygo. I can't wait till january, haven't got the patience and I actually need a car. My second choice was a 2nd hand black aygo ... but they don't have any at both my local dealers :(

So now I'm thinking of switching to peugot 107 (similar to aygo). The guy from peugot was very enthusiatic and said he had many cars and colours avaliable and its just a matter of which one I want and when.

But my heart yearns for an Aygo :'(

Then wait

January isn't that far away...

I'd wait for the Aygo too. Might be worth searching on-line for a dealer to see if anyone has one in stock? The Aygo is popular hence the wait but when you come to sell it you will probably get a better price for it? B)

I ordered my Aygo early May this year nad she was delivered in July. They are very popular cars and this has been strengthened further still by the Scrappage scheme.

You may get a Pug 107, same motor internally bit of a dog on the outside with the weird chin and awkward looking rear light cluster, but I guarantee onse you have one you will keep seeing Aygos and say if only!?!.

The 10 week or so delay is because your car will then be manufactured post the order going in, no worrying about a car sat in a car lot fizzing away at a dock.

It's your choice but I personally did wait and was thoroughly pleased that I did.

Being a Toyota Forum I have no doubt that there'd be biased opinions [towards the Toyota product] - however, in the very important and key areas these are the same vehicle. Marketing and Sales-People will have you believe otherwise, but they only differ in cosmetics. A 107 is equally reliable as the Aygo...engine, gearbox, drivetrain etc. are exactly the same. So why wouldn't the 107 be as fun and reliable as the Aygo?

We liked the look of the Aygo so thats what we got.

I don't know about the UK, but in the Netherlands Toyota has 3 years warranty and Peugeot 2 years. In Belgium Toyota even offers 5 years warranty.

I'd find a second hand Aygo that is still in warranty. Furthermore, I'd avoid the stealer ;-)

Worth asking yourself "why would I have to wait for an Aygo yet I can get a Pug straight away?"

Toyota dealership service is legendary, I looked at a Peugeot and couldn't get a salesperson to show me a model, never mind let me have a test drive for a day!!

Say no more, I have two Toyotas now ;)

Fair point, something that i did not take into consideration. However if the 107 is as reliable as the Aygo then you only really need service/dealer backup if something goes wrong. And why would it? Other than routine servicing and maintenance it should be equally reliable and your visits to your Dealer should be just as infrequent.

Buying an Aygo is no guarantee of more reliability or otherwise. Of course I stand to be corrected if others know different. but being mechanically identical and assembled on the very same product line, I can;t see why the 107 would be 'less reliable' than an Aygo?

Yes, if the argument is design - each car has its unique design niche. But to argue on issues like reliability is simply erroneous.

So let's hope the following fail in the first two years, and not in the third:

- Door seals that need replacing because of leaks

- Water pump failure

- Exhaust (final silencer) loose internal flaps

When we were looking for our Aygo (57 plate) I also looked at the 107, and comparing our local dealers the servicing was 30% more for the Pug. Also doing a spot check we would have to wait 3 weeks for a service loan car, Toyota had one a week later.

Granted the loan car may be an isolated incident, but the extra price for the service for a Pug was a surprise.

All very true, and I am surprised PUG were more expensive than Toyota for sevicing... :o

However everything said is about the Dealer and not the vehicle. The fact you have to wait 3 weeks for a courtesy car is neither here nor there as when your service is due, you just book it with time to spare, so that when your service falls due, the loan car is booked and available. Have to do that with my local VW Garage as my Mother can only drive an auto - the loan car needs to be booked 3 weeks in advance.

Again, I come back to my point that - other than preference of looks (which I accept should be an important factor influencing which to buy) - there is nothing to suggest the C1/107 is any less reliable than the Aygo.

There is a fair waiting list for an aygo - i had to wait 14 weeks for mine!

Worth the wait tho!

I ordered my car last Friday, and got confirmation delivery will be just after 5th December. I saw the Toyota national stock list on the computer screen, so there are some available.

Apparently though, because they are popular, each dealer is only allowed to sell so many cars from any one batch, so it may be that your dealer has used up their allocation, and has to wait for the next batch in Jan.

Have you tried other dealers?

The 107 doesn't look as good as the Aygo also you don't get peace of mind reliability wise like you get with a Toyota i the engines in all 3 cars the Aygo, C1,and 107 are built by Toyota but its a safety feeling you get with the Aygo, i had to wait to find the right one for me wait for Aygo don't settle for second best :)
