Yaris Sr 2009

Hi Guys,

I have no luck out of Toyota, I had a Yaris TR from Sept 08 to Apr 09, and then changed to the SR. Few weeks later it was discontinued and not even my dealer knows why. Booked my SR in for a 10K service to the be told they have no servicing parts for the SR model and they are not sure when they will get any as there being told Toyota don't have any. Within 3 weeks of owning the SR it putting it bluntly died on me, engine revs went through the roof as soon as I turned the engine on and ****** it to shreds, dealer had it for 2 weeks! Toyota Customer Care didnt even want to know and despite several letters of complaint no reply. Im wondering if this has not just happend to myne and this is why they discontinued it? As Ive seen loads of SR's with 09 plates around more than the TR and T-Spirit.

The 2009 SR is the same as the other 1.33 versions (TR & T-Spirit). The only differences are the alloys the dash headlights and rear glass and other cosmetic/trim bits and pieces. Mechanically it’s the same underneath.

I would ask your dealer what the ‘servicing parts’ are for the SR and the differences or try another dealer.

Reece is correct. The 2009 SR 1.33 is mechanically identical to all the other 1.33s in the range - the TR & T Spirit.

The differences are all cosmetic and don't affect the mechanicals or service parts.

But - I suspect the issue is that the 1.33 engine is new for 2009 in all models - so they might not have service parts for the 1.33 yet (in any model).

Yours must be one of the first 1.33s to reach 10,000 miles - as the majority won't be serviced until they're 12 months old in 2010.

Also - if you've had a major engine issue - that could also take more time to identify as its a brand new engine & gearbox design and the dealers won't have any experience of them yet.....

If your dealer has no ‘service parts’ for your 2009 Yaris then they won’t have the ‘service parts’ for the Urban Cruiser Auris or iQ3 that have the same engine and gear box. Let us know what they say

  • 2 weeks later...

I've just purchased a 2007 Yaris 1.8 SR (NCP91), and when I was there, I was speaking to quite a few of the second hand sales guys (experienced in toyota sales) and they said that the SR is discontinued, and there isn't any 09 plated SR's.

Having had a 1.3 SR prior to this, I've NEVER had any problems with servicing it, as the parts are interchangable, as is the 1.8 2ZR-FE engine is the same as in the Corolla.

Try a different dealer if you haven't already..

Came in a little late, i know :P

There are quite a few 09 plated SR’s (1.33’s) out there. I have noticed that the prices are higher. They only had a 6 month run so are pretty rare.

Yea, and the TR's are more than what I paid for my brand new SR when I got it 2 years or so ago.

I'm so glad I upgraded to my 1.8 though!

I've not seen any 2009 SR's yet.. I might have to keep my eyes peeled

Seen one advertised on a Toyota site for almost £14k, and that’s second hand!!

GEEEBUS!

I just paid £7,400 for a 2007 1.8 SR, absolutely stunning inside & out, with only 20k on the clock!

2009 SRs have "spoked allows" (lots of slim spokes if you know what I mean), but they're only 15" wheels just like all the other ordinary Yarii models, plus "darkened" privacy glass in the rear windows and a slight smoked tint to the headlight surrounds - but they DON'T have a rear spoiler or lowered suspension - so you'll have to look real hard to spot one from the outside.....

The only real differentiator visible on a moving car is the rear privacy glass.

If you're looking for the "traditional" SR rear spoiler as your visible "trigger", you'll never spot one.

Sorry for being a Yaris newbie here, but I was expecting the 58 plate SR I test drove to have the separate rear fogs (which it didn't), are they reserved for the T Sport models?

The SR I drove had the nice 16" wheels, which I prefer to the multiple spoke ones that were on the red 1.33 launch cars in What Car magazine.

Only on the T-Sport and 1.8 SR. They are in the bumper.

"Toyota Motorsport Pitlane" 16 inch alloys. They were a £900 option to buy as an optional extra (plus the cost of four new tyres).

My wife fell in love with the 2008 SR's alloys when we were going to buy a TR, so in the end we bought the SR as it was cheaper buying that model than buying the wheels and rear spoiler as an extra on the TR.....

If you want a set, there was a guy setting his the other day on the "Wheels & Tyres" forum, as he's upgraded to 17"....
