Have a new Auris. The luggage compartment light doesn't work. The luggage compartment light isn't covered in the manual. Can anyone tell me how one can open the light to check the bulb??

If the car is new, then let the dealer do it, the warranty is built into the price of the car.

Yes, but often is easier and much quicker to do some DIY instead of taking the car back to the dealer :) especially if only bulb needs to be replaced.

wrap the tip of a screwdriver in some insulation tape and remove the lamp

before you do this be sure that no voltage is on the lamp terminals, so close the hatch door, fold down the back rest and work from inside, not from the trunk!

Well it didn't help me!

I'm a pretty handy DIY mechanic but I couldn't see how to access the bugger nor did I want to force it! it wasn't very compliant!

I reckon ridiculous although it is I'm going to have to call into the dealers!

It should be in the manual as a consumer item I will send a snotty email as a result, its not very good you shouldn't need to go to the dealer to do this.

Just pop off the white semi-transparent plastic cover in order to access the bulb.
