How To Remove Rear Quarter Panel Moulding Arches

Hi guys, I have scratched the very rear mouldings around the arches of my 2001 rav 4. I want to remove them and repaint them. I have no idea how they are attached. It looks like they are riveted and screwed into the quarter panel. I heard that sometimes they are glued on, is this true?? Just wanted to do a little research before I do even more damage. Is there a tutorial somewhere on this?

Never had to remove them thankgoodness. Could you not spray them on the car and mask off the rest?

I'd be frightened that I'd find corrosion!!!
