Heating System Blowing Cold Air

On my 2000 celica my heating systems blowing cold air while set on hot unless i rev the engine, anyone any ideas what the problem could be?

thermostat could be stuck shut or broken. otherwise it could be the hot/cold selector cable/flap at fault.

Could be worth checking the engine coolant level first.

Thanks for the replies, it turns out I needed a new radiator the water was flying out of it, but it didnt overheat according to the tempeture gauge, Im lucky I caught it when I did otherwise it woulda went bang.

Is the temp control electronically controlled? Contacts may be dirty.
