I've recently noticed 2 ugly scratches on the front of my little Yaris, mainly on the bonnet and a bit on the bumper.

Can anyone recommend best way to remove them, by what I mean, dyi.

Below some pictures:

They seem to be as deep as into the paint and bodywork, but it is only reflection of the flash light. They're only in the lacquer, but the long one is quite deep.

The car seems to be very sensitive to such damage, even though I sealed it and waxed few times already, as well as wash it regularly.

Does anyone also know, how do the scratch removers work? Do they dissolve lacq around the scratch to minimise the visual effect or do they somehow bond with the surface inside the scratch?

Thanks for your help.

Nasty!

Try using some 3M body-work polish and a fibre-less shamois. But if they are too deep then you will need to get them sprayed. :(

  • 2 weeks later...

So after long postal strike and over week of waiting for the delivery to take place, I received my QUIXX scratch remover yesterday. I will try how it works, once I'm off work and the weather finally settles so it stops rain and gust all over the place.
