Paint Code

If you have a search it's been covered before. Look at the bottom of the plate under the bonnet. On a 4.2 there is C/....... in writing and the first three characters are the paint colour. My Lagoon Blue is 8M6. This assumes it's the same on a 4.3

On a 2005 model it is on the b pillar if you open the passenger door.

Thanks but I have checked all those locations, nothing on the door pillars or any where around that area, just tyre pressures, and permissable weights.

Also nothing under the bonet, where will it be under there, I have looked every where and cannot find anything? does anyone have any photos?

Its the same colour. I think they used to call it Granite Grey but now they call it Carbon Quartz. The colour only changes if the code changes.

Got my touch up paint today, it seems the colour is now called "Dark Grey Mica" 1E0

I do wish Toyota would stop changing things, as I think Halfords would have sold this in their 3 pen touch up kit which I have used before and is excellent in my opinion. I think they may have stocked Granite Grey, but I was looking for Carbon Quartz which no one has heard of.

For around a tenner you get 1x 12.5ml primer, 1x 12.5ml base colour and 1x 12.5ml clear coat, a small fiber glass pen and a rubbing down sponge. But what does it for me with the Halfords kit is the applicator, you can either use the brush, or there is this small syringe like tip at the end which precisley drops the correct amount of paint onto the area affected. BRILLIENT invention.

The kit from Toyota to my suprise came with clear laquer too. The instructions are not too clear though, there is a sponge on top of the base paint, and from what I can work out, you dab some paint onto the affected area, wait 10 mins, then wet this sponge and rub over the affected area, I presume to smooth it down?

has any one used this kit before? any ideas.

Used one on my daughter's Yaris - seemed fine but paint appears to be very thin so build up gradually and don't rush it. Clear coat is actually quite milky from the container but does dry clear.

The paint is water based but it seemed to keep the rust out once cured.
