Are we going to get a clue as to where to purchase these? PLEASE

A big clue can be found there (as said in a previous post)

http://hirheadlights.com/

I've understood reading it. :clown:

Thanks,

I went by your post 19 where someone asked if you got it from one of your links and you said 'no'.

I presume then they are these :$36.95 each for 9012 low beams:

How did you get them for 39 Euros or is that each?

the link on page 1, post 1 is not good. (no answers to my mails)

it seems to be impossible to find really 9012 HID kits.

so, it's not a 9012 HID kit.

39€ is for the kit (2bulbs :D , 2 ballasts & wiring)

eBay is your friend......

you are right!!!

not this seller because 55W

I've to post a french manual & you'll have to translate for other forumers (w pictures of bulbs, advices & name of eBay store)

and we'll be able to answer to the topic question Hir2=9012???

Merci Bilmuche,

J'attendrai le lien impatiemment et votre conseil.

First, what I've learnt about HIR2 bulbs : Visit this Website

An HIR bulb differs from a standard Halogen bulb by the fact that they have a reflective infra red coating with primary purpose of reflecting heat back to the filament.

They are being markeded under these names:

9011 HIR1, high beam, 2500lm bright at 13,2 (+/-15%) Volts

9012 HIR2, low beam, 1875lm bright at 13,2 (+/-15%) Volts

What I've seen on my iQ3 (not sure it's the same on iQ1/2)

It's only one bulb. This bulb named HIR2 is a mono filament bulb. low & high beam obtained by move of reflector.

On the HIR2 bulbs is written : HIR2 & 9012. Same socket, same shape for these bulbs.

So, HIR2 seems to be absolutely similar (but better) than 9012 (like H1 100W & H1 55W).

Now, it seems to be impossible to find HID kit for HIR2 & 9012 socket.

9012 socket looks like 9006 (minor differencies, see pictures below : note that bulbs are positionned like for replacement)

post-85393-1259496524_thumb.jpg

9006 bulb can be fitted in place of 9012. Bulb is not too long. Socket is not exactly the same. But it's possible. Alignment is perfect for low/high beam.

I'll post a short tuto in french (too difficult in english for me). There is no particular difficulties. Just advices for positions of bulb and hole in the black plastic lid.

You can buy this 9006 55W kit (or an other) : http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=170409013045

Good ebayer, fast delivery. Quality seems to be correct. Maybe, you can find better (i'll explain why in the tuto) or cheaper

no (if I understand well)

9006 bulbs need very high voltage (given by ballast) and wiring included in the kit.

but just plug and play

wait for the french tuto and its translation!
