Pheasant Damage

Hit a pheasant doing approx 50mph yesterday, didnt think anything of it, apart from commiserating with the poor bird, but later i found that it had cracked my spoiler adjacent to the foglight and pushed the foglight back out of its socket! That must have been a big old bird to do that amount of damage. Still, you can't swerve. At least it wasnt a deer, by the amount of damage the pheasant did, a deer would have totalled the car!

Rotten luck - for you and the pheasant. Was the pheasant still edible? What's the law on picking up "road kill"? It must be a bit difficult to decide who it belongs to if it is dead on the public highway. . . . . :chef:

Well i did think about retrieving it for the pot BUT unfortunately it wasnt quite dead. :( Looked in the mirror to see it still flailing around. I think the car coming the other way may have finished it off, so he may have claimed that the kill was his.

Dont know whether to get the car fixed by Toyota or get my local garage to sort it. I guess if its an insurance claim i should just have Toyota do it.

Had the same experience myself when the Prius was just 1 week old. The stupid bird was stood in the middle of the road, just round a blind bend :(

I hit it square on - no idea what happened to it... but when I finally found a safe place to stop I discovered it had ripped the blue Toyota Badge from the bonnet! Fortunately there was no other damage (though it has cost me £27 or so for a new badge).

Lol nice blood splatter..

I hit a large badger (at 60 mph) the other week (1st one) - my god they are tough! fully expecting damage,,,there was nothing! (other than some slight blood & fur on the alloys) so sounds like you've just been a bit unlucky!
