Hope Anchs has got some tea bags for emergency use - you've gone home with his tea strainer stuck up your new exhaust

Looks really good now it's done.

Have a look at this from Mick1020 as a possible solution to the odd Mud flap issue:

Then when i was feeling all clever :D you go + finish by saying, just some daft thoughts..:lol::lol:

Opps, sorry mate! :D

Obviously this and Mick1020's solution are fine

Maybe we are just both too self-deprecating (no, I don't know what it means either , but I thought it sounded good :) ).

Sorry To bump this tired topic again but i need answers..If you look at the photo below of my new exhaust you will see the join where 1pipe becomes 2 effectively an inverted "T" the tte/Remus version is effectively an inverted "Y" which must be more efficient for getting rid of exh..gasses, now Hoovie fitted one, + said it gave the car a boost, since fitting mine it is not only quieter but seems much livelier, the best way i can describe it, You know when your cars cold the ECU i assume does something thats the equivelant of using a choke on older cars, well mine now feels like that all the time, I am not imagining this as the wife used it the other day + said unprompted (the car feels as smooth as silk + was going like a Rocket) I am obviously very pleased, But can anyone throw any light on this, Cobra who make it, make no claim for improved BHP etc, can a simple back box (twin pipe) make a difference.. Stew

Well performance cars have straight through exhausts Stew and don't forget we have removed a restriction in that back box and replaced it with liner noise absorbers in the tail pipes..........

........and don't forget the mind is a powerful weapon and it can kid you about these things! If it is quieter it might appear to do the same thing with less fuss. I noticed on Roberts photo the y pipes hang down a lot further. I think the Cobra solution is neater and less vulnerable.

I think we should ask Toby about the tail pipes. He probably thinks they have stopped you smoking so they are brill'

Just out of curiosity, where does the left hand exhaust hang from?

If I remember correctly, there a black bracket (recovery?), on that side underneath the vehicle, but I don't remember anything that looked like an exhaust "hanger". Does it hang off the bracket or is there something obvious I've missed?

Anorak!!! Who on earth can remember what is under the car unless they were under there washing it :D

Well correctly anticipated anyway! You remove the hanger and they supply a really good quality bracket and rubber to hang that side on. There was no instructions but if we tried to fit both the hanger and the towing bracket it wouldn't be accessible so we transfered it to the right side where it is (because the towing eye is offset it hangs away from the right tail pipe rather than directly over the left tail pipe). It is a really good kit and TBH it doesn't sound throaty at all it is really quiet. When you stand at the side of the car you can hear the engine but the exhaust is virtually silent.

If you look on the pic above, there are 2 clamps, a rubber oval, + a S/S bracket, Don removed the recovery bracket + one of the exposed positions was used to bolt the supplied S/S bracket to, I wouldn,t have bothered but Don being Don then relocated the recovery bracket on the offside, I guess on LHD vehicles it is probably on the offside anyway, Only prob i can foresee, were i ever to fit a towbar I may have to weld or fabricate a new hanger as its using one of the fixing points, but I'm sure that wont be difficult..Stew PS looks like Anchs has Beat me to it :D

Ah, you caught me out! Anyway, it's only twice a day and three times at weekends. What's the problem with that? ;)

Thanks Anchs and LH.

Local, I remember how smooth yours was @ Warrington with Kingo's chip fitted, so it must be fairly good now. It looks good as well

I suppose, there is now room for the full size mudflap? I guess one alternative might be to look for some non-toyota ones, but you might not like the look of that. On my old 4.2, I wasn't convinced that the length of the Toyota ones were very effective. From some very large mudflaps I found, I cut them to fit inside the wheel arch over the top of the existing mud flaps, mounting with the existing fixing holes.

From the back, it just looked like the existing ones had been extended downwards by 2-3 inches. I wonder if you could do something like that to extend the existing one sideways? Again, you might not like the look.

Probably easier to look for non-Toyota ones, you could shape to fit, if a full o/s is not available. Just some daft thoughts anyway.

Well I've managed to extend my narrow mudflap by butchering an old paint roller tray  and pop rivetting it to my narrow mudflap...

mudflaps131.jpg

Then thanks to Mick 1020s idea I added a couple of stick on corner protectors (Halfords £5-70p) and sprayed all 4 flaps matt black +

used some flexible spray underseal to hide the join...

mudflaps129.jpg

Then re-fitted all 4 Job done  just need to clean my car now..If anyone wants bumper corner protectors for there Rav Halfords do some under the Ripspeed brand £12 per pair very similar to Mr T originals but about 50% cheaper  Stew

Mudflaps on car, not perfect but near enuff..

Nice job Stew - as I was saying last time I saw you, you can hardly see the joint!

Dave - I use the strainer for filtering lumps out of my pear cider as well!

Are they velcro or pop studs on your shoes Stew?
They are old mans shoes (velcro) M&S but very comfy :wheelchair: You'll be needing them soon

I need em now Stew. Thanks to the ergonomic design of our 22 year old trains I get a stiff hip and eff off ankles that feel like they want to crack all the time - just because there is no leg room and I have to sit twisted or stand up while keeping one foot on the DSD (dead man's pedal). I carry old newspaper and masking tape to make up the holes where the icy blast comes under the desk. No pointy silver tilting trains up Buxton, old beardy Branson doesn't even know where it is.

Velcro is good but I need longer arms to remove the need for me to bend!!!

Only just catching up with all this quality posting/ banterising re. LH's barrow handles, so called coz I am dead jealous.....superb job chaps.

Stew....you make reference to "wicking up your Kingo Chippo Kitto...". Can this be done? Maybe Mereside forgot to tell me there was an adjustment, but I would think with the way McRavvity is performing, it's currently on fullest setting. Still goes like Robin's Parish Priest, and really pleased with ice / snow behaviour.

Good luck and posperising to all in 2010,

Big Kev. :toast:

I am not sure if your "chip" being for a T180 is identical to mine, but there are a set of jumpers inside which can be moved to increase power, I have left mine alone as i get a bit of smoke on "Fierce acceleration" and thought moving them might increase this, although it only happens briefly, I am tempted to give it a try but might let lindop give it a go on its next service.. If you pop over to the Auris forum they seem to mess about with these things on there + there is a current lively debate on the T/SR 180 "chip",,,Stew
