Hi one and all,just found this site and i think its great!!good to see an active chat and reply going on!!!anyway,just had a warning light come on,the same that tells you the handbrake is up,but its not,i know the switch for yhat isnt faulty cos you can see the light dim ever so slightly when you release it!? :huh: the brake fluid is fine ond at the higher mark????

its an f reg (gen4)2.0i gt anyone got ay clues??

as fizz said welcome to the club mate......not the same car but had the same problem......

possible quick fix....spray a little WD40 under the bottom of the handbrake roughly were the switch should be.........

worked for me :lol:

dont think it is the switch..as i said ,when you let the handbrake off you can see the light dim a tad..anyother suggestions???and is the club worth joining,joined one before for the dreaded ford xr club no response to any questions,no help with problems, nothing,,

The handbrake light in my car also tells me 'fluid low or pads low' can't remember which but it is DEFINATELY a dual light.

I had a gen 4 for the last 7 years - great car..

if the light goes out once you have started the car and then comes on when you apply the foot brake for the first time and stays on, it means that your brake light bulb is out at the rear! great idea from the !Removed!

won't be your pads matey as there are no wires going to them

you can always tell when your pads are low as you get an awful swealing noise from your brakes as the limit shims rub on the discs

mkinder you are right!!!!!!found out the other day that my rear right bulb had gone ,replaced it and all is well....thanks all for all your help!!!! :thumbsup:
