Problem When Reversing Downhill

Hi,

I own a 1.6L manual transition Auris and I have recently faced the following problem. When I'm reversing downhill the transmition is not working properly, the clutch starts knocking and the engine stops.

At first glance it seems to be a clutch issue, but this is not the case according to Greek forums (other owners have reported this as well without a suggested solution from Toyota). For the moment it seems the only solution is to "play" with clutch pedal and gear pedal.

Have anyone noticed this ? Any solution is much appreciated.

Sorry, not something i've come across. Would be good to know the outcome. Does the car attempt to move? Or does it feel like there is a brake sticking or not releasing?

Are you in reverse gear when going backwards downhill? If you are in any other gear and let the clutch out the car will stall and cause knocking . Just a thought. Apart from that, sounds like a garage job.
