Rav4 06 Plate Servicing 60k Plus

Hello Guys

Hope everyone is keeping well.

I just thought I would post a question to some of you Rav4 season campaigners regarding servicing costs.

I have a Rav4 XT5 06 Plate that is now approaching its 60k mile service. It has been a good car on the whole although I did have a problem with a clunk on the steering and a faulty AC compressor unit both matters being successfully resolved (in the end) on the extended warranty.

Anyway, I have received a quotation from Toyota for the next 3 Services on my Rav 4 XT5 and this amounted to an eye watering £745 for the 60k, 70k and 80k services :o

Now, just like the average punter, I don't particularly have a spare £745 slushing about but then again there is the option of Toyota's Service Plan with interest free payments that are spread over a couple of years, and those chaps from Toyota will even provide a door to door service all as part of the fee.

At this point in time I am coming to the end of my previous Service Plan arrangement and theres a couple of months left to run on that agreement before its finished, although I have already received the last of that plans benefits with the 50k service.

When it boils down to it what I'm thinking here is what really is the difference between the local garage "Cheap and Cheerful" £150 service and a Toyota £250-£300 one?

Not a great deal I suspect.

I also have an Extended Warranty on my Rav 4 which runs for the next two years so I don't want to do anything that will put me in breach of the warranty terms and conditions.

I suppose I need to check the small print on that point.

Anyway, as times are very tight, I am all but convinced about going down the local garage route for all future Servicing as whilst I like Toyota their servicing costs seem to be floating in the stratosphere to me!!!

Appreciate the views of the board as to what you have all done with your Rav 4 servicing.

Many Thanks in Advance,

Pete

Hello, I would shop around. I recently had a 60k service on my T180, Arnold Clark Toyota quoted me £360.00. I didnt have to pay it as I had a servicing plan. £745 is qiute a shocking quote, you could buy a nice we runaround for that !!!!

The £745 was for three services, the 60k (due next) then the 70k and finally the 80k.

£360 at Arnold Clark is about what Toyota are proposing for my 60k.

Hi Pete,

I am sure that when you take an extended warranty, You agree to have you car serviced with a Toyota agent.

I have just taken out one last month, 2 days before the car was 3yrs old saving about 90 quid. (2yrs extended warranty 1 service, as the 2nd yrs finishes as the warranty requires renewal.)

I think this was mentioned by anchorman when there were a topic about extended warranty.

He will more than likely confirm this in his next visit to the forum.

Jim.

Hi ,

Ive just had mine in for the 20k service and was quoted £230 from 1 toyota garage and £220 from another , so i rang around a little more and had it done for £180 including transfer oil and diff oil from a toyota garage . So my advise would be to ring round a few for the best deal as times are hard for most places .
