Extended Warranty

Hi

Just a quick one may Toyota used car warranty runs out at the end of the year :(

Will they contact me about renewing it prior to it running out? And if so do you guys think it's worth it

or should i look somewere else ?

I tried to beat it out of him but alas he still went ahead

Basically are you prepared to pay about £30 a month for peace of mind or would you rather have about £700 after two years if nothing has gone wrong? If the latter you have to accept that you could be hit for a £1500 repair bill but would be unlucky if that were the case. So do you feel lucky (punk) ?

I will look into that my local toyota dealer is very good so I will see what he can do first .

He has changed parts on my 1998 rav FOC In the past so i think i can trust him :D

Will they write to me nearer the time to let me know ?

Yes they normally write to you telling you that its ending nearer the time , they have on my last 2 toyotas

couple of things to remember ...

The toyota warranty includes a top level of RAC Cover, so if you are working out costs compared to other warranties as an alternative, prob need to factor that in (unless you got cover anyway from another source like a bank account)

If you have not claimed on your warranty by the time it expires, I believe you get a voucher or something to spend at a Toyota dealership. not sure if this is automatic or have to ask for it?

FWIW, I have had my 2 year extended warranty running for 18 months and just made my first claim. saved about £400 on toyota charges and with the RAC Cover - which I have used quite a few times due to rubbish Battery - I reckon I am maybe £150ish down on the deal so far which at around an average cost of £6 a month for 'extra' peace of mind against further costs is ok :)
