Wiper Failure

Hi all,

Carine E 1.6 (1993) with sudden wiper failre, apparently there were some odd noises from the wiper motor before

they stopped working. I've checked fuse 15 - ok, the screen wash button works, I suspect the motor or relay?

The dash lights dim slightly when I attempt to test the wipers.

Will an Avensis mk1 wiper motor fit if I can't find a Carina E one?

Mine packed up last week aswell,had the drivers one still going until Friday and then that failed too,got a new linkage fitted Monday evening,all good again.

Sound like you've either got a dodgy connection coming off the wiper motor or else the motor is fried.The balls wear down on the linkage aswell,you'll probably have to take off the rain water gutter cover above the bonnet and have a look.

Its probably the wiper linkages that have failed and the mechanism has dropped down.If it is those can be repaired by drilling through the housing and ball and put a split pin through it.
