Avensis 2003 Losing Power

Hi I have a Avensis t3X 2003 and lately after 15-20mins driving I am finding that going to 4th or 5th gear the car loses power and I can have foot to the floor but still no punch. I have to go to 3rd and give it full power then you can feel the turbo kicking in after min or two. The problem disappears after maybe 1/2 hour driving with the problem. It can be quite dangerous on motorway and has required going to slow lane to avoid problems.

Is it Turbo or dirt in fuel pump...

To many variables to give exact answer. I would be inclined to check all induction piping firstly for damage or loose connections, also have a friend rev engine whilst you observe pipes, you may have pipe collapsing. Do the simple things first, when did you last check air filter or change fuel filter ? Only after this should you be looking towards more possible expensive faults ie: sticking EGR valve etc etc. Does your engine management light come on, which may denote an area of vehicle with a fault.

Regards, Beagh.

Tks for that but no management lights come on and starter motor was replaced about 18months ago.
