Mmt Gearbox Fixed In 07 Model

Recommended Posts

Hi

Does anyone know if the problems with MMT Gearbox (in particular it slipping into Neutral) have been fixed in the 07 models

I have been offered a TCV 1.8 MMT on a 07 plate, which I am highly tempted by. When I asked the salesman about the MMT problems, he said they had been fixed in this model. Not that I don't believe the salesman, we all know they have a tendency to tell a few porkies ;) so just want to double check.

Thanks

Rob

Myself I would not touch an MMT with a barge pole !!There are just to many issues with this box and if you notice they have reverted to a Torque converter(diesel) or CVT( petrol) on the new Verso

To drive the car in 'M' mode is great fun, but to drive the car in 'E' mode is truly awful.

If you want a car with a pure auto gearbox do not go for the MMT.

Note sure. Mine was a 2006 model. I read many of the comments on this forum and thought must be only a few cars affected. Won't happen to me. WRONG. :crybaby: I had to give that car up (got out with a loss).

Please make 100% sure that its fixed in 07 model.

Otherwise if you can stretch the cash go for a new/nearly new 09. The (cvt) auto has had good reviews.

If the salesman is confident the car they are trying to sell you has no MMT issues then just add an extra paragraph to your sales agreement. Something along the lines of xxx Garage (who you are buying from) will fix any MMT related issues with this vehicle free of charge (parts and labour) for the next three years or 100,000 miles (whichever is the sooner).

I would not think this is an unreasonable request as it is pretty much what any extended Toyota warranty should cover.
