hi folks

so looking for either a 98 or newer colorado 3 door, silver or dark colour....manual

or

an lc series ,again 3 door d4d....manual

Mate...

If you think 150K miles is high...

take a look at the landcruisers owners clubs website... there is a chap called Vette on there who's LC has covered around the 219K miles

Think his is a 03 LC3, looks nice n all...

Not sure if he passes by on this website but perhaps he might and might add his little bit to this ...

In regards to the colorado you are looking at and the milage on the clock... my guess is that it's just been run in... ;)

I just traded my 06 Rav4 in for a 05 LC4 which had an engine refurb due to some complications it encountered... short of it is although the clock shows 61K on it I'm asuming that the engine is now pretty much brand newish... its had a new short engine block and the top end has been completely rebuilt... also the cambelt was changed so thats another 100k miles or 10 years before that needs changing...

It's not a colorado like the one your looking at, but the LC is surly a fine beast...

go on... take a ganders at the landcruiser owners club website... it's full of great info and split out over the various flavours of the LC range...

Hope it helps you in your decision ;)

Regards

Rob

hi nightstalker

been pondering on a land cruiser for a while now, used to own one about 5 years ago now,'y' reg silver colorado 3 door d4d,but after only 2 weeks it broke down, lost total faith in it :( :( ...it only had 60'000 on clock.

so i traded it back for a.........05 reg yaris d4d on a straight swap basis, had that for about 6 months..but missed my 4x4 soooo much,so i saw the rav and got that instead. :) :)

only trouble is, my Battery died this morning and drivers window mechanism has also gone wrong today....rrrrrrr

could really do with another landcruiser for green laneing i do.....slowly,but am tarnished with memories of my old one that went wrong, you know how memories affect you......:unsure:

i have looked in awe at land cruiser club, and yes some seriously high milers, this is what i wanted from mine at the time..but my confidence was severly knocked :( :(

maybe i ought to log in there and ask around.......

thanks for your input though :thumbsup:

Hey,

Have you thought to go for the later LC 120 series rather than the Colorado? From what I understand the service intervals on the 120 are every 10k where as I think the Colorado needs a service almost twice a year :o

You can pick up the LC 120 at a decent price nowadays... specially when the new LC 150 comes out in December, I kinda whished I waited till then now but ho-hum...

The LC I have is great, space wise it full-fills it's requirements and the fuel consumption is actually better than my petrol 06 Rav I had (must say though that I do miss my Rav)....

If you really need a LC then go for it... as you know when they work they're great (you must have picked a rotten one... perhaps the previous owner wasnt to kind to it... - bit like mine, but I've ended up with a pretty much new engine and I've got 12mnths MR T warranty on it as I bought it through my local MR T shop)

Good luck hunting if you end up persuing the LC

hi Rob

maybe i will have a look in december then, give the new range a chance to kick in,i may get the chance of a bargain then

i kinda think a lc 120series 3dr would be better now i think about it,but just depends if it falls within budget, with higher mileage possibly

i do prefer to buy from dealership, as always feels safer to me,knowing that if i do get troubles, thats where its heading to be fixed.

been giving my last one some thought, the falty bit wasnt the injector...it was the injector pipe spliting just as it entered the injector....tho i suppose either way ....i was just very very unlucky, judging by responses on their forum ive had this evening !

just have to keep my eyes open when im out and about

High mileage is what sells landcruisers in australia. Plenty of them hit 700000 klms especailly the buses which use the same engines as the LC. There is one old guy who is an escort driver for over sized loads and he has clocked up around 850000 klms on the original engine.

StarTing them up and driving long distances is much better than short trips to a from work each day. Plenty of regular oil and filter changes as well as injector services is the other part of the story.

hi sandgroper

thanks for reply

blimey,700000 klms (i guess thats roughly 250'000 miles) as you say ,with good maitenance i am learning that these vehicles can go for miles.

for me trotting back and forth to work (20 miles a day in traffic) and the odd 300 mile holiday drive 3 times a year is all it needs to do..plus weekends off roading, & being no trouble during the year.

i knew these vehicles were good, but from what i am learning from various posts on here and land cruiser owners club,....its amazing ( well it is to me anyway)

im hoping for a 98 colorado 3 door,or possibly a lc 120 3 door series,depending on budget,with hopefully under 200 klms or 100'000 miles

if the right one comes along in next few months....it would be good

hope your luck is better then your maths - 700000km = 430K miles......

love my LC - had it 15 months and done 16,000 miles with no problems - got it last september with 300 miles on the clock for around £27k (£14k off list price - I loved the credit crunch)

my money cant stretch to an Amazon, just too big anyway

need to keep my eye out for a 3 door colorado or newer 'lc' series 3 door, hope to get 'y' reg or newer, also manual.
