Why do you feel the need to have more moderators?

We need to cover the forums and I recently tidied up the moderating team (I don't think anybody noticed) by removing six of the original members, who have for one reason or another left the forums, or left the moderating position by choice.

I thought it would be a good opportunity to let our members elect a moderator from the forums to give anyone who wants the position, a chance to help with the running of the club.

I want to be able to moderate the corolla forum!!!

and also get some stickies in there so common questions that are always asked dont flood the boards.

I'd like to be one, but no doubt age is a large factor so most likely rules me out among other things, however I do feel that it's a good idea to have a fresh form of authority floating around.

There seems to be a lot of confusion between "Nominating" and Voting"

I am deleting entries that "Vote" for the simple reason that as stated in the initial post.......

Nominations will run for the next few weeks followed by elimination votes after that until we have a moderating team consisting of sufficient numbers to cover the forums."

Not because I don't agree with members choices ;)

It just keeps it tidy and lets me know who is on the nomination list.

I would say me, but I don't have a Toyota, don't like most of the recent Toyota's and have zero patience with idiots, or people that I deem to be an idiot. (This covers a disproportionately large percentage of the population).

I am however known and often commended for my subtle tactility on controversial and sensitive matters.

Oh shut up, Idiot. :P

Les - Is previous experience any sort of help here?

I would say that the task of moderating a forum will fall into the same bracket of some job vacancies... experience not essential, but could help.

Not to say anyone without moderating experience won't be voted for, everyone who is nominated will be put forward to the pubplic vote and have the same chance as everyone else.

I feel that the fact that I like to comment on some things that some mods dont like, have clashed with other mods, spend loads of time on here, try to arrange meets, report on several posts that don't follow rules and have been on here for a silly amount of years I feel I would be the perfect candidate!

And if I dont get it then my pink hat may never come to JAE ever again! :P

Oh shut up, Idiot. :P

Hardly the behaviour you'd expect from someone wanting to be a mod now is it?? :P

If i'm voted in as a mod then brilliant, don't mind helping out...

If not, then i will sulk and never post again....

Just something for people to think about ;)

Gaz - Yes, I'd expect it from anyone on TOC, Seen as he drives an M3. ;)

As Gaz says, If in... Helping out. Great.... If not, Sulk. Leave..

Hou - Sounds like a plan.

It is noticeable that while there is a "Sticky" in every [?] forum it is only those/we Elite who inhabit the higher realms of General Discussions  who have either commented or nominated

Or to put it more correctly, perhaps, no one who is not a regular poster on this forum has appeared :o

That's one problem, its could turn out to be one of those things when people don't vote because they don't feel it matters, but then they feel they have every right to complain when they don't like the selected mod.

COME ONE PEOPLE, MAKE YOURSELF HEARD HERE! ;)

Wise words.... if people do not express an opinion by casting a vote at the required time then forever more they should not moan :nono:

My 2p's worth -

Minimum requirement to be mod on TOC, you should be a Toyota owner (apologies to Karma who has much knowledge of Toyotas).

Nominating yourself ? dont know about that one. Best being nominated by others on here who have recognised your contributions

previously.

Knowing the rules of TOC

And sticking to them!

A mod should be a Toyota OWNER (in my opinion) if said mod is no longer a Toyota owner then the mod status should be relinquished and they become a pleb like the rest of us, obviously still contribute to the forum with their knowledge and wisdom.

A mod shouldn’t play games with people’s signatures or posts and then deny any knowledge or involvement.

A mod should be fair reasonable and unbiased.

A mod should be approachable.

A mod shouldn’t goad members with private messages or topics then lock them so you can’t respond.

A mod should lead by example.

Just my $0.02 cents worth

I can go with most of that except having to be a Toyota owner. They should have previous experience of Toyotas (In relative depth). You don't need to own one to have the knowledge of a previous one. ;)

I disagree with the "being a or having knowledge of Toyota's".... there are plenty of fair people on here who would make good mods that don't curently own Toyota... being able to recognise when posts are getting out of hand has nothing to do with owning or knowing about Toyota's...
