Auris Oil Dipstick Problem

Since buying my Auris 1.6 Valvematic two months ago I have tried on numerous occasions to check accurately the oil level but without success. However I go about it, when I withdraw the dipstick the oil is smeared well up on it and it is impossible to tell the actual level. Even after standing overnight and thoroughly wiping the stick the situation does not change. Any ideas anyone?

Turn the dipstick and check the level on the other side. This usually works.

Sorry, what do you mean by "turn", turn the dipstick sideways? And the other side? Cheers
